Role:
As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will join our Data & Digital Team and help implement quality initiatives approved by the QA Engineering Director as well as help implement best practices and organizational initiatives as set forth by Leadership. You will have responsibility of overseeing day-to-day testing and certification of software solutions developed as well as conducting hands on test design, execution and reporting. You will either be driving the development of or leading the rollout of company automated frameworks and solutions. You will also help monitor and mentor more junior Quality Engineers to ensure that teammates follow defined standards, troubleshoot issues, resolve questions regarding usage of QE tools and appropriately apply test rigors to verify quality deliverables resulting in no/few Production issues while delivering on schedule. The ideal candidate will also have experience in defining QE metrics, establishing efficient means to capture source data, establish metric reporting dashboards/reports, identify trends, and propose improvement initiatives.

Crown is building a Quality Engineering capability to deliver and ensure quality across software products supported by Data & Digital. We are looking for a Senior Quality Engineer who has in-depth knowledge and experience in software testing and best practices with hands-on manual test execution for GUI, API, DB and/or mobile applications along with test automation development experience. In the Data and Digital group, you will grow your skills in an environment that emphasizes creativity, collaboration and empowerment. You will work on an Agile Team with talented, diverse and dynamic professionals to plan, design, commit and deliver impactful business capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Design and lead the implementation or rollout of automated test frameworks and solutions.
  • Maintain and ensure test environment, code deployment and data integrity to ensure accurate foundations for testing activities.
  • Define, manage and meet project schedules; prioritize/work multiple tasks across multiple projects and keep leadership informed (escalate when necessary).
  • Define and drive the implementation of quality practice improvement initiatives and standards.
  • Systematically reduce technical debt within the QA Engineering practice such as developing detailed test cases documenting all system functionality in a prioritized test case repository, automating test cases, establishing regression and end to end test suites, documenting standards and templates and more.
  • Champion and train others on quality initiatives and practices including explaining the rationale and value.
  • Propose objective, achievable solutions to complex problems including conducting technical evaluations and recommendations backed by supporting data.
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of both the technical and functional aspects of the business applications and product functionality to perform testing and QA analytics.

  • Applies proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to test and certify technical deliverables using a repeatable SDLC that ensures both quality and efficiency.
  • Ensures all test artifacts are properly documented and understood across the QA Team; including, but not limited to, ensuring defect details including steps to recreate are clearly documented, maintaining the suite of test cases and clear test results reporting (including gathering of test metrics).
  • Quickly understands complex concepts and information as well as educates others on such concepts to ensure their mutual understanding and continued alignment.
  • Adheres to defined design architectural standards when developing test automation frameworks and continuously executing tests in a DevOps environment.
  • Adheres and ensures compliance with company and quality standards/best practices.
  • Operates with a sense of urgency and quality driven.
  • Works effectively, independently and efficiently with no supervision as well as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment including process and technology changes.
  • Detail oriented yet able to also keep in mind the big picture.
  • Possesses excellent time management, organization and communication (written & oral) skills.

Education/Certifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, information Systems or related discipline.

Experience/Minimum Requirements 

  • 8+ years of experience as a technical Quality Assurance Engineer with hands on experience in developing both manual and automated tests.
  • Direct experience in writing test scenarios & test cases, estimating test efforts, developing automated test scripts, authoring test documentation and defining test data management practices.
  • Good understanding of test automation framework design.
  • Must have effective written, oral and presentation communication skills.
  • Advanced experience partnering with IT partners, Business partners and other Stakeholders to deliver quality products on schedule.
  • Firsthand real-world experience shaping QA best practices and standards especially operating within DevOps and Agile or Kanban environments.
  • Strong understanding of QA methodologies (theory and hands-on), QA architecture, procedures, tools, documentation, metrics & analytics (including ROI) as well as real world experience working in different operating models to deliver educated recommendations as to which practices are best suited in different situations.
  • Hands on experience with functional, integration, system & E2E testing, API testing, database validation and / or mobile applications testing.
  • Experience independently managing QA activities and mentoring more junior team members.
  • Technical skills preferred: strong SQL, Postman / Swagger / SOAP UI, Agile workflow management tool (JIRA, ADO or other), test management tool (Octane, ALM, Qmetry or other), test automation language (Java / Python / C#), experience with BDD, experience with Selenium / Playwright.
  • Preferred testing in AWS or Oracle.

Working Conditions: This is a remote role with the expectation of on-site/in-person collaboration with teammates and stakeholders for moments that matter and may require up to 15% travel.

For New York, Colorado, California and Washington residents the hiring range offered for this position is $110,000- $140,000 annually. In addition to salary, employees are eligible for an annual bonus of up to 20% of annual salary and restricted stock. Employees (and their families) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan. Employees will also receive 18 days of paid time off each year and 12 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
