Position Summary
Supervises, trains and monitors the activities of assigned liability claims adjusters and other claims personnel.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manages overall operations of designated area of authority. Interviews, hires, trains and directs personnel. Prepares and conducts performance assessments, coordinates discipline and oversees Employee development as required.
Supervises activities of liability adjusters and other claims personnel. Provides extensive training and guidance, reviews daily work and monitors workloads. Participates in Employee development.
Reviews liability adjuster claims on a regular basis in accordance with company policy. Checks for coverage, ensuring timely investigation, reserves and resolution of claims while maintaining fair and adequate settlement amounts. Acts as a resource for answering claims questions and inquiries. Provides additional services as required. Takes action as necessary.
Reviews claim correspondence and provides counsel on further action.
Maintains and applies a working knowledge of liability adjuster's files. Maintains knowledge of statutory laws.
Resolves coverage or unusual questions within designated authority. Conducts related research as necessary.
Makes recommendations to and participates with claims manager in developing and evaluating claims procedures.
Receives and directs processing of legal papers served upon Policyholders involving claims action. Also directs activities of liability adjusters and outside legal counsel as required.
Assists in preparation for trial procedures. Attends pre-trial functions and trials as necessary.
Assists claims manager and may act on his/her behalf as necessary.

Qualifications
Minimum Required Education Equivalents Bachelor's degree in business or related field and two years liability claims experience, or experience as a Claims Supervisor, required ; or Associate's degree in business or related field and four years liability claims experience, or experience as a Claims Supervisor; or High school diploma and six years liability claims adjusting experience, or experience as a Claims Supervisor required. Strong knowledge of statutory laws required. Completion of Associate in Claims (AIC) designation preferred. The position requires the incumbent to provide support for property claims during periods of heavy volume. Appropriate license as required by state.
