Description The DevOps Engineer will develop and support the infrastructure, tooling, and processes for the development, test, and release of Avocent's family of remote access devices and management software. Responsibilities:
Enhance infrastructure and procedures with an emphasis on fast and predictable pipelines facilitating multiple daily deployments in an always on, zero downtime environment
Verify and monitor cloud and on premises environments and respond to issues as they arise, adding new monitoring capabilities as needed
Troubleshoot issues across the entire stack; hardware, software, application and network within bare-metal and cloud-based environments
Eliminate manual toil by automating procedures, improving reliability and reducing touchpoints
Collaborate with development and product teams to assist in design, deployment and operations of secure cloud based applications across Dev/Test and Production environments
Recommend alternate choices and trade-offs for various design decisions.
Work directly with software developers to simplify processes, enhance services and automate application delivery facilitating the release of production-ready software
Assist with determining system and application security requirements and developing security solutions
Work with other members of the SRE team to document and cross-train on deployments as they occur
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related
3-5 years relevant work experience
Experience with Linux-based systems administration
Comfortable supporting fast-paced development teams
Motivated self-starter, with a high capacity for rapid learning and attention to detail
Excellent troubleshooting capabilities and an ability to quickly learn new technologies.
Experience working with and developing against APIs
Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment
Experience with containers and container orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
Experience with configuration management tools, deployment pipelines, and orchestration services in both cloud and self-managed environments (Terraform, Ansible, GitLab).
Experience and versatility administering many services spanning the entire application stack
Experience troubleshooting and actively debugging live production systems
