Reports to Director Patient Services. Responsible for the care, preparation, and maintenance of sterile and unsterile instruments, equipment, and supplies. Identifies, inspects and assembles instrumentation for use in a sterile procedure. Sterilizes instrumentation and completes quality control checks as required. Ensures proper inventory levels by filling requests according to established unit of measure.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
The knowledge, skills, and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of a High School Diploma or Equivalent. A minimum of 1 to 2 years previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
A basic knowledge of the operations of a Central/Sterile Processing Department, as well as knowledge of procedures and equipment is preferred.
If not currently certified, employee must complete the Purdue University Central Service Technical Training Course (or other equivalent course) within one year of obtaining position.
Working Conditions
Potential risk due to high level of exposure to blood and body fluids, exposure to ethylene oxide, exposure to high concentrations of hydrogen peroxide, potential burns and/or hot equipment.
Physical Demands
Frequent lifting, bending, walking and standing on a daily basis.
