Project Manager, Actuarial Process Design and Improvement (Project Management)




AXA Equitable is growing its Actuarial and Risk functions as it continues its journey to becoming a standalone US company. We are seeking people who will thrive in a fast-changing environment involving one of the most complex product portfolios in the industry.

We are looking to hire a talented Project Manager to support the Actuarial Process Design and Improvements team in the optimization of the utilization of resources, develop and manage project plans, while managing transversal workstreams across Model Development, Assumptions, Valuation, Regulatory, IT, Data Analytics, Finance and Risk Management. The position reports to the Head of the Actuarial Process Design and Improvements team.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Lead project management for the Actuarial Process Design and Improvements team.
  • Provide a disciplined yet flexible approach to project planning and execution, adapting to the unique needs of each project, sponsor or situation, always driving forward on the critical path.
  • Leverage rigorous risk management practices to identify and evaluate program risks timely and develop mitigation strategies well in advance of risk realization.
  • Manage the successful delivery of projects based on timelines, budget, scope, quality and relationships.
  • Work with stakeholders to help develop and implement solutions to business issues.
  • Coordinate resources and deliverables across multiple workstreams.
  • Develop detailed project schedules, assess risks and build mitigation strategies.
  • Facilitate meetings and communicate results to project team members.
  • Actively coordinate and prioritize with other project managers across both Actuarial and the broader Enterprise Financial reporting community.
  • Support relationships and collaborate with business partners and team members through data accuracy, transparency and integrity without exception.
  • Domestic travel on an as needed basis depending upon the projects being supported.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree is required. Major in Finance, Mathematics, Operational Research, or Business Administration is preferable.
  • 5+ years of experience in the insurance industry.
  • 5+ years experience managing increasingly complex projects. Strong knowledge of project planning and execution methodologies. PMP designation desired.
  • In depth knowledge of project management software. Experience with Microsoft Project suite highly desirable.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Capability to work with and influence all levels of stakeholders, from executive management to individual contributors, to drive timely decision-making. "
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and communicate results to both the project teams and management.
  • Ability to present to customers and project sponsors and play a supporting role in presentation to higher levels of management.
  • Strong negotiation and people management skills.
  • Proven analytical problem-solving skills, including the ability to assist in breaking down data/information into meaningful findings and developing recommendations that lead to informed decision-making.
  • Experience balancing competing priorities.
  • Maintain highest ethical standards; demonstrate practicality, integrity and respect for others. Promotes diversity and a culture of inclusion.
  • Change management experience is a plus.
  • Experience supporting budget tracking and financial reporting is a plus.
  • Basic software skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and process mapping software.
