SUMMARY Using mathematical, engineering, and scientific principles as well as CAD software, design new and special products, as well as modify and improves existing product designs; Serves as a knowledge resource for electrical, electronics, and other engineering disciplines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following.
· * Troubleshoot, maintain and improve existing products as needed. Utilize the ECN (Engineering Change Notice) process to revise assemblies and products as needed. · * Develop robust designs for new, special, or existing products that can be produced economically and according to established project timelines. · Collaborate with Product Management to develop product specifications and requirements to drive the product development process. · * Work from product specifications and requirements to develop and document appropriate electronic circuits, acceptable performance standards and test protocols. Performs complex calculations, tolerance stack ups, analyses, and testing to verify assumptions. · Participate in and potentially lead failure mode and effects analyses (FMEAs) and design reviews. · Collaborate with Quality, Product Management, Manufacturing and Sourcing to establish appropriate critical to quality (CTQ) characteristics, quality metrics, PPAP requirements and to select suppliers. Support quality audits and assist internal and supplier manufacturing as needed. · * Using 2D and 3D CAD software, prepare schematic drawings, wiring diagrams, circuit layouts, detailed drawings, bill of materials, Gerber files etc. · * Develop, implement and document embedded software, including creating, coding, testing and debugging software. Investigate new sensing technologies. · Construct and test prototype and pilot products. Conduct the analysis of the test results and create test reports as appropriate. · * Develop test equipment for product testing and provide corporate-wide electronics technical support. · Assist Technical Service in troubleshooting field installations, when requested. · Other related duties and projects as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor's (BS) degree in electrical engineering or an equivalent discipline plus four years related experience. · Working knowledge of product structuring, electronics modeling drawing practices, and associated documentation · Digital and low power analog design with embedded programming. · Low and medium voltage DC and AC circuit designs are also required. · Good oral and written communication and excellent documentation skills. · Attention to details and ability to solve problems to root cause. · Knowledge of control system design, and LabVIEW a plus. · Familiarity with quality-related best practices also a plus.
· Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time to attend classes, seminars, supplier visits and potential customer field issues.
